Expedition Overview

Spantik Expedition is a mountaineering journey to Spantik Peak in the Karakoram, which involves strenuous climbing and trekking at high altitudes. Spantik Mountain lies to the south of the great Hispar glacier, and standing above upper Chogolungma, it offers an attractive climb. The approach path to the beautiful campsites along the Chogolungma Glacier offers vistas of mountain scenery with innumerable high peaks. Spantik Expedition is perfect for every mountaineer to prepare themselves for higher altitude Himalayan and Karakoram Peaks.

For 40 Years, we have been organising the Spantik Expedition for mountain climbers from around the world. Trango Adventure operates 30-35 days long Expeditions to Spantik Mountain. We offer both full board or base camp logistic services. The duration may be longer or shorter depending on the client’s experience, skill and available time.

Our Spantik Expedition starts from Islamabad. Islamabad International Airport is the nearest international Airport to arrive. Our Representative will meet and greet you at Islamabad International Airport and then transfer you to the hotel, the rest of the day is for rest to recover from the long journey. We will meet again in the afternoon for a briefing about Spantik Expedition. Next day, you will catch a spectacular mountain view flight to Skardu. You will see K2, Nanga Parbat and many other famous Karakoram and Himalayan Peaks on the flight. After 45 minutes, you will arrive in Skardu.

Skardu is the capital of Baltistan and the biggest town in this region. It is the getaway to K2, Baltoro, Gondogoro La, Broad Peak, and other valleys. In Skardu, trekkers and climber usually do their final purchasing and top-ups for their onward trekking and expedition trips. After spending one night in Skardu, you will drive to Arandu. Arandu is a small village, here you will have your first night in the camp. After spending your first night in the camp under the starry canvas, the trekking session of your Expedition will start from here onwards. You will walk towards Tsas Chumic, Bolocho and the Base Camp of Spantik Mountain.

We will have 2 week climbing period to reach the summit of Spantik. During this time, we will set up three high camps and alternate between the camps to acclimatise. Camp One (4500m) is around 8-kilometre ascent from the base camp. From Camp One, the route up to 5,100 meters features several ice pitches and crevasses, requiring the installation of fixed ropes, after this area, ropes are not needed until Camp 2. Camps 2 and 3 are beautifully located on a ridge providing spectacular panoramic views. The ascent from Camp 2 (5,500 meters) to Camp 3 (6,550 meters) involves steep ice and dangerous crevasses, requiring six fixed ropes for safety. From Camp 3 to the summit, we will need safety ropes to complete the climb.

During your Spantik Expedition climbing and acclimatisation period, our crew will be based at the Spantik basecamp. Our mountain guide, chef and other staff will stay at the base camp to help and assist you during the entire climbing period. Our chef will make nutritious food throughout your Expedition. We strongly believe that nutritious food plays a vital role in climbing Expeditions. After the climbing period of the expedition, you will follow the same Itinerary back to Islamabad. You will spend one night in Islamabad, then we will transfer you to Islamabad International Airport for your flight back home.

We strongly believe that our four decades of expertise and experienced staff can run your “Spantik Expedition” successfully.

HISTORY & TECHNICALITY OF SPANTIK MOUNTAIN

Most recently, Spantik Mountain (7,027m) has been a favourite peak of climbers to train for higher objectives. The climb along the Southeast ridge is easily achievable amongst 7,000m summits in the Karakoram. The ridge rises 2,700m over its 8-km length affording the several safe campsites. It is a straight ascent with a gradient of 30º to 45º with a mixture of some tough and easy patches. The Southwest route also goes along a snow ridge of moderate angularity. The summit on clear days presents grand views of neighbouring Rakaposhi, Diran, Malubiting, Ultars, Battura Group, Haramosh, the entire Shimshal Mountains, and K2 far beyond and many more. The view is breathtaking

Although technically easy, the Spantik expedition is for mountaineers who have the experience of climbing as independent roped parties on snow and glaciers and at least have been on some smaller peaks of AD level. High altitude experience, excellent physical condition, and regular practice are required to join this expedition.

FAQ

I'm a solo traveller, is there a single supplement?

A wonderful serenity has taken possession of my entire soul, like these sweet mornings of spring which I enjoy with my whole heart. I am alone, and feel the charm of existence in this spot, which was created for the bliss of souls like mine. I am so happy, my dear friend, so absorbed in the exquisite.

Should I book pre/post tour accommodation?

Far far away, behind the word mountains, far from the countries Vokalia and Consonantia, there live the blind texts. Separated they live in Bookmarksgrove right at the coast of the Semantics, a large language ocean. A small river named Duden flows by their place and supplies it with the necessary regelialia.

It is a paradisematic country, in which roasted parts of sentences fly into your mouth. Even the all-powerful Pointing has no control about the blind texts it is an almost unorthographic life One day however.

What is cancellation policy?
